Age Of Progressivism In The United States

I had an epiphany last night. It started when Bernie said that he would more than likely have a younger, female running mate. So, I thought of Tulsi or some other strong progressive woman, maybe Nina? Anyway, that would mean whoever that woman is, she would have an opportunity to be in the White House for nearly a generation, 12-16 years and that would be huge. That being said, I’d have no problems with replacing Bernie with Elizabeth in that scenario. And even though Bernie & Elizabeth would be the progressive “dream team” and awesome, the length of time having  Progressives in office would end up being a net loss, due to both of their ages. And they say we’re not “pragmatic”, I think the above demonstrates, pragmatism🤔.#YearOfThePeople2020 #MARGPhoto by Lina Trochez on Unsplash

Peace, Love, And The Internet

2019 marks the anniversary of the Woodstock Festival in 1969, billed as “3 Days of Peace & Music”. Now, 50 years later in the age of the internet, Woodstock 50 will give generations of fans the opportunity to join together in the festival’s foundational intent of harmony and compassion.

The three-day event will take place from Friday, Aug. 16 through Sunday, Aug. 18 in Watkins Glen – located in Upstate New York. Lang has put together a world-class team for curation and onsite festival production.

It’s my belief that Woodstock 50 is the perfect platform to the build upon the “Blue Wave” of 2018 United States mid-term election, moving into the 2020 U.S. presidential election.

We’ve allowed our “Representatives” to kick the can, further and further down the proverbial road. Well, the end of the road is nigh and there’s a giant #wall blocking the way.

Let’s all try to get together and make 2020, “The Year Of The People”.

"We're trying to make (Woodstock50) something that penetrates and engages people — we could lose the planet if we're not careful," Lang says. – @billboard #Woodstock50 ☮️❤️🎵

The Incrementalists Are Coming, The Incrementalists Are Coming

The Incrementalists Are Coming, The Incrementalists Are Coming

For all of those who encourage incrementalism, saying things like, “These things take time”, “That’s not how these things work” or “Sometimes you’ve got go sideways to find a new way forward”. Those things are prudent and sound it’s true but, then plans need to be made and actions implemented.

How far sideways do we have to go before realizing we’re going the wrong way? We’ve known about the dangers of climate change for the last 50 years. Our healthcare prices have continued to soar higher & higher, becoming less & less attainable. We’ve seen that coming for what, three or so decades? Not too mention our crumbling infrastructure.

We’ve allowed our “Representatives” to kick the can, further and further down the road. Well, the end of the road is in sight and there’s a giant wall in the near distance.

The time has passed, there are plans (GND, Medicare Fol All) that can start to be implemented and now is not the time for incrementalism. Politicians will stand up on their soap boxes preaching austerity and how sacrifices must be made when it comes policies that affect #WeThePeople. All the while giving tax cuts, breaks, incentives to huge businesses and their wealthy donors. #EnoughIsEnough #YearOfThePeople2020

The US has a choice: a just, livable, renewable energy future—or the road to climate catastrophe. The outcome depends on what social movements (read: all of us!) do in the next 2 years.

A Button Flavored World?

I first came to the following realization on February 15, 2019. I had just sat down to watch @netflix, the show was, The Umbrella Academy. Usually, whenever a Netflix original begins, there’s that intro sound effect but, instead of the usual white background with their name, this time it was their red N symbol. (Here’s an article that was written two years ago on @eyeryscom discussing Netflix’s new logo). Anyway, the first thing that came to mind was, what a smart idea.

With mobile platforms on the rise, it seems to only make sense to have the simplest, most identifiable brand, for something the size of an icon. Then that led me quickly down a “rabbit hole” of thinking, realizing that auto-reply buttons are becoming increasingly common in email and text communications and that all of this was probably started with pictures on fast food chain’s registers. Anyway, that led me to the conclusion that, somewhere in the not so distant future, a huge percent of non-face-to-face communication will be dealt with by clicking pictures, emojis, and text bubbles.

(Full discloser, I smoke marijuana so, take that into account🙃).

2020 The Year Of The People!

2020 The Year Of The People

Building upon the “Blue Wave” during the 2018 United States mid-term elections, Progressives all around the country will continue to stand up to the corruption that’s infected our government and Representatives. With the #GreenNewDeal and #MedicareForAll polling at record levels with the majority of Americans, Progressives are cued up to make 2020 the year of the people. #YearOfThePeople2020
